The Lagos state police command reportedly arrested 42 suspected homosexuals at Vincent Hotel at Weigh bridge in Owode Onirin area of the state.
The state Police Command spokesperson, Olarinde Famous-Cole who confirmed the arrest, said the police got information that some homosexuals gather at the hotel and use the place to have sex and conduct wild parties. Acting on the tip-off, the police carried out a raid on the hotel yesterday afternoon and arrested 42 suspected homosexuals.
“About 42 suspected homosexuals were arrested and the hotel has been cordoned off while investigation continues. They are in custody of the Lagos State Task Force and will be charged to court soon,” he said
Recall that in January 2014, the Goodluck Jonathan administration signed the anti-gay bill into law and proffers a 14-year jailterm for anyone found guilty of committing acts of homosexuality in Nigeria.
