Migos Opens Up About Legal Battle with 300 Entertainment

Migos, Lil Yachty, and Quality Control executives Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “Pee” Thomas are all about the family on the latest Complex digital cover, where the crew makes a revelation regarding their trials and tribulations.

The biggest obstacle the imprint has faced came when they battled 300 Entertainment for independence, according to Offset. “300 was the biggest hurdle,” he said. “They tried to hold us against our will. It wasn’t never no in-house hurdles we ever had, like where it’s been a problem…300, that was the biggest thing, going through times and situations with them.”

Pee concurred with Offset, acknowledging that they spent a reported $500,000 to get out of their deal with 300. “For 18 months, we couldn’t sell no product,” he said, noting “Look at My Dab’s” impact. “They created that whole [dabbing] movement. It was one of the biggest songs of that year…but you ain’t see it on iTunes,” he added. “We couldn’t sell it. We couldn’t stream it. We was in a battle where it was like we were being shackled down.

Coach K nodded his head while Pee spoke, and then revealed how the group celebrated its agreement with 300. “As soon as we got out that, five days later, we leaked ‘Bad and Boujee.’”

Now, the label has its sights set on the future. “The next five years, we’ll own shows, some of the biggest movies you’ve seen,” Coach added, “and still put out great music.”

Migos is coming off the release of Culture II, while Lil Yachty is prepping Lil Boat 2 for release March 9. The guys are also reportedly joining Gucci Mane for a Glacier Boyz joint project.
