The Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has issued a six-month ultimatum to the federal government asking it to conduct a referendum in the south east region.
MASSOB alongside other pro-Biafra groups have been agitating for an independent Biafra state and according to The Sun, the group said elections will not take place in the south east region if a referendum is not conducted.
The group said: “MASSOB, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other genuine pro- Biafran groups will mobilise the people against 2019 general election in all Biafran territory to boycott the election if federal government refuses to conduct a referendum for the exit of Biafra from Nigeria.”
The group also claimed that Kogi and some parts of Benue state were begging to join the Biafra movement.
“MASSOB is giving six months ultimatum to the Federal Government to conduct a referendum in Biafran land or there will be no election in the South East region, including parts of Kogi and Benue states.

In a recent video, Kanu said the group’s main concern was to achieve Biafra at all cost but explained that for now, the non-violent approach and the call for referendum was the focus.
He said without Biafra, there will be no difference between an animal and a black man.
He said while in prison, he had a lot of introspection and became more prayerful and to ponder extensively on the best way to get Biafra in the quickest possible time.
